Elkin Mrs. Blendon Reece Byrd Dobbins, age 97, of Elk Spur Street, Elkin, passed away Tuesday, October 05, 2004 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Dobbins was born August 9, 1907 in Surry County to William Walker & Nannie Hare Byrd. Mrs. Dobbins was a retired legal secretary and was a member of Elkin First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Elkin Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zeno A. Dobbins and a sister, Hazel T. Byrd. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin First Baptist Church by Dr. Bill Johnson. Mrs. Dobbins will lie instate from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Elkin First Baptist Church. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Dobbins family.
