Ronda Mrs. Mary Ann Byrd Carter, age 82, of Luffman Road, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Brian Center of Winston-Salem. Mrs.Carter was born April 20, 1923 in Wilkes County to Sanford Meredith & Eunice Coetta Adams Byrd. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey Eugene Byrd, Charlie Arney Byrd, Ernest "Dick" Byrd, Samuel Quinten Byrd; a sister, Mallie Louise Byrd; and a special grandson, Sandy "Adam" Settle. Survivors include: two sons, Terry Everette Carter, Gary Lee Carter and wife Dennie all of Ronda; three daughters, Rosa Charlotte Andrews of Ronda, Loretta Ann Cooper and husband Wayne of Elkin, Marilyn Jane Calhoun and husband Morris of Walnut Cove; twelve grandchildren, Amy Hooker and husband Jason, Chris Carter, Terri Thomas and husband Kevin, Crystal Campbell, Ricky Carter and wife Dehia, Jennifer Stanley, Josh Davis, Matt Davis, John Michael Davis, Katelyn Rose Davis, Zane Cooper and B.J. Campbell; seven great grandchildren, Austin Carter, Gabriella Carter, Carter Campbell, Trevor Campbell, Madison Hooker, Caleb Hooker, Kirstin Stanley and Jenna Stanley. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church by Rev. Joel Blevins and Rev. Jack Nance. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Carter will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctor's and staff of the Brian Center of Winston-Salem.
