State Road Mr. Larry Dean Cheek, age 59, of Pleasant Ridge Road, passed away Thursday, November 01, 2007 at W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Mr. Cheek was born April 17, 1948 in Surry County to Fred & Naomi Ruth Hoskins Cheek. Mr. Cheek was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Chruch and retired from Johnson Brothers. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Minton. Survivors include: his wife, MaeVonne Caudill Cheek of the home; a son, Eric Cheek of Rockingham, NC, three stepsons, Terry Tucker and wife Linda, Ricky Tucker and wife Sharon all of Sparta, Chris Tucker of Georgia; a daughter, Gina Pilkington of Rockingham, NC; two stepdaughters, Linda Roberts of Yadkinville, Susan Core and husband Bryan of Arizona; three sisters, Barbara Gentry, Elizabeth Sneed both of Southern Pines, NC, Debbie Parks of S. Carolina; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Merritt and Rev. Jerry Sparks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
