Bill Marion Temple

April 25, 1929 — August 25, 2007

Mr. Bill Marion Temple, age 78, of Cherryville, formerly of Elkin, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2007 at his daughter's residence. Mr. Temple was born April 25, 1929 in Welcome, NC to Rev. Dewey and Mittie Clodfelter Temple. Mr. Temple was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War and was a retired apartment complex manager for Colonial Village Apartments. Mr. Temple was on the board of directors of One By One Ministries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: David, Mac, Norman and RJ Temple. Survivors include: his wife, Gaye Sloop Temple of the home; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Sam Smith and wife Lynn of Fayetteville; a special son, Dr. George Darrow of Denver; Four daughters and sons-in-law: Chris Cagle of Thurmond, Dawn Cornelius and husband Ricky of Lincolnton, NC; Tracy Dellinger and husband Matthew of Kings Mountain, Chanda Watson and husband Dale of Sparta. Two brothers and sisters-in-law: Dr. Donald Temple and wife Brenda of Piney Creek, Willis Temple and wife Ollie of Ramsuer. Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley Hoyle and husband Bob; Della Wagoner and husband Roy all of Jonesville. Twelve Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Mike Lane and Rev. Brent Lane. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to One By One Ministries P.O.
