Jonesville Mrs. Ethel Adams Spencer, age 83, of N. Bridge Street Jonesville, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Spencer was born May 30, 1921 in Wilkes County to James & Leona Shore Adams. Mrs. Spencer was a homemaker and spent part of her life working at Cash & Carry and Chatham Manufacturing. She was a member of over 40 years at First Baptist Church of Jonesville. Ethel was an avid golfer, gardener, fisherperson and she loved Wake Forest Basketball. She was very involved with life and had many, many friends that were so important to her. Her greatest accomplishment was her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Paul Spencer; two brothers, Gwyn Adams and Eugene Adams; three sisters, Nancy Adams Gray, Mary Adams Brown and Ina Adams. Survivors include: her son, Richard Michael Spencer and wife Berta of Davidson; two grandsons, Richard Michael Spencer, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Christopher Scott Spencer; a great granddaughter, Aleksandra Wren Spencer. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel at Seven O'clock p.m. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Jonesville, Library or Building Fund.
