Thurmond Mrs. Viola Mae Blevins "Polly" Norman, age 85, of Thurmond Road, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Norman was born July 28, 1921 in Wake County to Monroe & Bethie Brooks Blevins. Polly retired from Sunbeam and was a longtime member of Mining Ridge Baptist Church and of the Home Demonstration Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Spencer Norman; a daughter, Pat Norman Slawter; a son, Larry Alex Norman. Survivors include: a son, Roger Dale Norman of Thurmond; a daughter, Anne Norman of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Oscar Blevins, Blan Blevins, J.T. Blevins; seven grandchildren, Roger Dale Norman, II, Ryan Drew Norman, Karen Edwards, Quinn Slawter, Sandy Williams, Todd Norman and Mark Norman; three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Mining Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Paul Bell. Mrs. Norman will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mining Ridge Baptist Church.
