James Forrest Allen

January 29, 1940 — July 1, 2006

Elkin Mr. James Forrest Allen, age 65, of Hwy 268 West, passed away Saturday July 1, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Allen was born January 29, 1940 in Guilford County to James W. and Opal Forrest Allen. Mr. Allen was of the Methodist faith and was serving as the Elkin High School Tennis Coach. Mr. Allen was also a veteran of the United State Air Force. Survivors include; His mother, Opal Forrest Allen of Elkin. Two sisters; Phyllis Allen and Patricia Chatham both of Charlotte. A niece; Elizabeth Chatham of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 4, 2006 at 5:00 pm at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Prichard. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Mr. Allen will lie instate at Hodges Funeral Home Monday from 12 noon until 4 pm and on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial be made to the Elkin High School Athletic Association.
