Lesley "Les" R. Rumelhart 71 resident of St. Maries, ID died Nov. 16, 2010 at Coeur d' Alene following a 4 month long battle with Leukemia. He was born October 9, 1939 to Lloyd and Marie Lorenz Rumelhart at Harrison, ID. He grew up in Springston, ID. He graduated with the first class in the new Kootenai High School with the class of 1957. After graduation, he went to work for Russell & Pugh Lumber Company before going to work for the Springston grocery store. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959. He was stationed in France. After his discharge, he moved to St. Maries. He married Katherine Yenor on Feb. 16, 1963 at St. Maries. He went to work for Safeway Stores in Sandpoint and St. Maries before purchasing the Hamm's beer distributorship in 1966. He sold the business to Buddy Beck in 1968 and returned to work for Safeway. He spent a lot of time at home helping his wife raise their family. In 1970, he transferred to the Moscow, Idaho Safeway store. He worked as the produce department manager. He worked in Pulman, Wa for Safeway while residing in Moscow. He moved to St. Maries in 1994 and continued to commute to Spokane and Coeur d' Alene to work for Safeway . His wife died in 1999. He retired in 2000. He is survived by his son Paul Rumelhart of Moscow, ID and his daughter and son-in-law Lori and Steve Weyer of Moses Lake WA. Also surviving are his brothers Jerry Rumelhart of Hayden Lake, ID and Don "D.B." Rumelhart of Sequim, WA as well as his grandson Christopher R. Weyer and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Rance Rumelhart and sister JoAnn Esmay. Funeral Services will be Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries, ID with Fr. Timothy Ritchey officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with a gathering of family and friends following at the Benedictine Hall 239 S. 10th.
