Kernersville Mr. John Floyd Blackburn, Sr. age 63, of Springbrook Drive, passed away, Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Blackburn was born June 21, 1943 in Surry County to Earl & Etta Jane Bauguess Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed by Lowe's Hardware. He was a member of Believers Baptist Church and the Lyons Club in Wilmington, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl M. Blackburn of Lexington; a son, John Floyd Blackburn, Jr. of Kernersville; two daughters, Lisa Elaine Bailey of Lexington, Debbie Jane Hoffman of Clemmons; a stepdaughter, Tonia Koonts of Thomasville; a brother, Earl M. Blackburn of Bossier City, LA; four grandchildren, Austin Hoffman, Kristal Hoffman, Megan Bailey and Dillon Bailey. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dean Chandler and Rev. Earl M. Blackburn. Burial will follow at Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening March 8, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. There will be no services Friday. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Believers Baptist Church in Yadkinville.
