Winston-Salem Mr. Zeb Vance Cash, age 88, of Hunters Horn Lane, longtime resident of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Alterra Clare Bridge of Winston Salem. Mr. Cash was born October 4, 1915 in Iredell County to J. Finley & Betty Madden Cash. Mr. Cash retired from Chatham manufacturing after 46 years of service and he was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II and was stationed in Alaska. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church of Winston-Salem and previously a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Elkin where he served as a Deacon. He was also a past Gideon and volunteer at Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry, Meals on Wheels and Pleasant Hill Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Venia Reynolds Cash; six brothers and three sisters. Survivors include: his daughter, Linda Goggin and husband David of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Byron D. Goggin and wife Leslie of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Byrne and Rev. Jerry Fugate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Cash will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Elizabeth & Tab Williams Adult Day Center, 231 Melrose Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Alterra Clare Bridge Memory Care Center, 275 S. Peacehaven Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or to the donors church or charity of choice. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Cash family.
