Elkin Mrs. Pearl M. Wood, age 68, of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Wood was born November 5, 1935 in Wilkes County to George Washington & Mary Ocea Rutter Wood. Mrs. Wood was retired from Thurmond Apparel and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Mae Wood Hall and a brother, Von Wood. Survivors include: three sons, Billy Roger Wood, Jr. and wife Glenda of Elkin, Tony Michael Wood of Ronda, Ronald Keith Wood and wife Belinda of Thurmond; two daughters, Annette R. Poplin and husband Wesley, Kathy Wilmoth and husband James all of Ronda; two brothers, Howard Wood of Traphill, Paul Wood of Belhaven; two sisters, Rosalee Quidley and Iva Dean Wood both of Belhaven; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brian Cardwell. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.
