Elkin Mrs. Ollie Faye Benton Couch, age 91, passed away Thursday, February 02, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Couch was born July 4, 1914 in Yadkin County to Roscoe & Rachel Swaim Benton. Ollie was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company with thirty-nine years of service. She enjoyed making quilts and growing beautiful flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter B. Couch; a daughter, Aileen C. DeBorde; three brothers, and five sisters. Survivors include: two sons, George Couch, Sr. of Jonesville, Donald Couch and wife Brenda of State Road, a son-in-law, Clifton DeBorde of Elkin; seven grandchildren, Greg Mathis and wife Christine, Keyna Vestal and husband James, Cliff DeBorde, Jeannie Cohn and husband Jerry, Ann Couch, George Couch, Jr. and wife Sandra, Jason Couch and wife Sherri; twelve great grandchildren; four sisters, Annie Macemore, Minnie Bryant, Ellen Macemore of Jonesville, Ruth Crissman and husband Simmons of State Road, a brother, Parks Benton of Jonesville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Charles Lethcoe. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorials Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church Building Fund 118 N. Elkin Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
