Elkin Mr. Ray Leo Settle, age 76, of Glendale Drive, passed away Monday, June 5, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Settle was born February 28, 1930 in Wilkes County to Clifton & Flossie Lyon Settle. Mr. Settle was retired from Acme Supermarket in Maryland and was member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Settle, Clarence Settle and Harvey Settle. Survivors include: His wife, Myrtle Ball Settle of the home; a son, Allen Ray Settle of Ronda; five brothers, Clyde Settle of Cleveland, NC, Mack Settle of Roring Gap, Jack Settle of Granite Falls, David Settle of Winston-Salem, Avery Settle of Elkin; two sisters, Esther Holbrook and Zeola Holbrook both of Ronda. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. James D. "Danny" Dodds. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Mr. Settle will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service.
