Robert D. "Chappy" Marek 43 resident of St. Maries died as a result of a homicidal act at his home on May 15th, 2011. He was born December 28, 1967 to Norman "Bud" and Vivian Park Marek at Clarkston, WA. He grew up in the Medimont and St. Maries areas. He attended schools at Rose Lake and St. Maries. He graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1986. Following graduation, he went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad. He had worked for Charlie Harpole Sr. before going to work for Regulus Stud Mill in 2003. He continued working there after the mill was purchased by Stimson Lumber Co. He worked in clean up and was promoted to an oiler poistion just prior to his death. He never married. "Chappy" enjoyed the out doors. He also enjoyed target practicing, fishing, fourwheeling and gun collecting. He is survived by his sister and brother-n-law Sherral and Clint Bates of St. Maries. Brother Burt Marek of Sante Fe, TX, and his close friend Helen Lee. Also surviving are his Stimson co-worker family, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Jim Marek. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. At the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene with Pastor A.J. Anderson officiating.
