Warren Grant Cothren

Mr. Warren Grant Cothren, age 74 of Roaring Gap Church Road, passed away Friday November 24, 2006 at Elkin Health Care. Mr. Cothren was born in Wilkes County on April 2, 1932 to Rev. Grant and Mae Warren Cothren. Mr. Cothren was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korea conflict, and was retired from Picker International Company. Mr. Cothren was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church; he enjoyed gospel music and was a member of the Messengers Quartet of Greensboro, and a member of the Roaring Gap Quartet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Stephens Cothren of the home; two sons, Grant Cothren of High Pont and Randall Cothren and his wife India of Wilmington, and one step son Adam Spencer and his wife Suzette also of Wilmington. Three daughters; Sheila Price and her husband Wesley of Franklin, Darylene Hecht and her husband Michael of Cary and Cheryl Cothren of Winston Salem. One sister Lois Billings and her husband Jim of Thurmond and twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Cothren will be held Monday November 27, 2006 at 11:00am at Roaring Gap Baptist Church by Rev. Russ Nixon, Rev. E.R. Wiles, Rev. Ronnie McMillian, and Rev. Wesley Price. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Cothren will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Roaring Gap Baptist Church Music Fund, 267 E Roaring Gap Church Road Thurmond, NC. 28683
