Mary Kathryn Markwick, 87, passed away on June 10, 2010, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in St. Maries Idaho, burial following at the Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Fred Pace officiating. Mary was born on February 5, 1923 on the family farm in Crow, Oregon, the daughter of Harry J. and Henrietta Jackson Layne. She was the youngest of 3 daughters and grew up in Crow, Oregon and attended schools there. She worked as a mothers helper on the area farms and later worked in the kitchen at the Eugene Hospital where she met Verne Markwick. They married in 1950 and traveled to Redding, California and back to the Eugene, Oregon area where they made their home for many years. Mary and Verne moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho in 1966 and in 1981 moved to St. Maries, Idaho where they managed the M & D Trailer park, Big Eddie's Lodge and the Conklin Park Marina. In 2001 she moved to Post Falls, ID to be closer to her children and grandchildren Survivors include: Sons Larry Stevens Post Falls, ID Harry Markwick Alvin, TX Fred Markwick Coeur d' Alene, ID Daughters Judy Lawrence Cottage Grove, OR Mary Kay Crowe Priest River, ID 12 Grandchildren, 24 Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Erma Graville and Bessie Nielsen. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, Genealogy and her children, grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
