William Richard Spicer

Elkin Mr. William Richard Spicer, age 66, of Roaring Gap Church Road, passed away Monday, September 05, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Spicer was born April 3, 1939 in Wilkes County to Garland F. & Elsie Tucker Spicer. Mr. Spicer was retired from Carl Rose & Son and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jennie Spicer Johnston. Survivors include: two brothers, Marvin Lee Spicer and wife Lois of Dobson, Bobby Lindon Spicer of Traphill; three sisters, Lou Ella Spicer of Austin, Nelda Barker Dezern and husband Raymond of Roaring River, Marlene S. Jolly and husband Billy of Ronda; a brother-in-law, Steve Johnston of Elkin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Bauguess. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Spicer will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
