Arlene Williamson Harris

December 1, 1916 — February 17, 2006

Mrs. Arlene Williamson Harris, age 89, of State Road passed away Friday February 17, 2006 at Elkin Health Care. Mrs. Harris was born December 1, 1916 in Surry County the daughter of Walter and Sarah Elizabeth Wall Williamson. She was married to Floyd Zenus Harris who preceded her in death in 1991. She graduated from Mountain Park High School in 1934 and became a beautician in 1960. She was one of the oldest members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church joining it as a very young child. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers John Williamson and Willie Williamson and three sisters Ethel W. Southard, Pearl W. Melton, and Eva W. Moser. Survivors include: two daughters, Ms. Abigail Lynn Harris of Spencer, and Betty Ellen Fletcher and her husband Charles of Mountain Park. Three grandchildren, William "Bill" Charles Fletcher Jr. and wife Virginia of East Bend, Gregory Clark Fletcher and wife Jan of N. Wilkesboro, Elizabeth Betsy Fletcher White and husband Walter of Dobson. Six great grandchildren, Eva Fletcher, Ruth Fletcher, Abby Brooks and husband Shaun, Sarah Beth Fletcher, Jesse Fletcher, and Faith White, two nieces Lois Miller and Hazel Saylor, also special friends Dare Bean and Joan Batson. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held Sunday February 19, 2006 at 3:00pm at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Carl Childs and Rev John Attaway. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00pm at Hodges Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Mountain Park Recreation Development Association for Mountain Park Community Park; C/O Ralph Williams 827 Zepher Mountain Park Road State Road NC, 28676. The family would like to extent a special thank you to Mrs. Harris' caregivers; Fern Johnson, Sandra Ashley, Betty Childress, Letha Golden and Hazel Swift. Also a special thank you to Dr. Carl Childs, pastor of Mountain Park Baptist Church and to Elkin Health Care for their excellent care.
