Elkin Mrs. Eloise Tilley McCann, age 79, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away Wednesday April 13, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. McCann was born March 3, 1926 in Wilkes County to Luther & Minerva McCann Tilley. Mrs. McCann was retired from Elkin Valley Apparel and was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Tilley and Thurman Tilley. Survivors include: two daughters, Doris Cox and husband Sam of Elkin, Mary Shelton and husband Dewey of Traphill; four brothers, Winfield Tilley and wife Velna, Eugene Tilley and wife Ruth, Earlie Tilley, Roger Tilley and wife Cathie, all of Elkin; two sisters, Juanita Lyon and husband Lawrence of Traphill, Joyce Hincher and husband Fred of Elkin; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Cox of Winston-Salem, Amanda Atkinson and husband Dennis of Elkin; Douglas Shelton of Rural Hall, Craig Shelton and wife Misty of N. Wilkesboro; three great grandchildren, Josia and Ezra Atkinson, Emma Shelton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church by Rev. Linwood Campbell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. McCann will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes County at 1907 West Park Drive, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
