State Road Mrs. Helen Conrad Hines, age 83, of Poplar Springs Road, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Carolina's Medical Center. Mrs. Hines was born July 12, 1920 in Guilford County to Elser Conrad & Erma Woodhouse Doub. Mrs. Hines was a member of Elkin First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Helen volunteered with Hospice of Surry and Forsyth Counties for several years. She also delivered for meals on wheels and was a volunteer for Elkin Elementary School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton "Buck" Aydlotte Hines, Sr.; two sisters, Jane Siepel and Judy Forbes. Survivors include: two sons, Rev. Milton Aydlotte Hines, Jr. and wife Monty of Williamsburg, Va., Charles Michael Hines of Cameron, NC; a daughter, Charlotte Ann Guyer and her husband Joe Guyer, Jr. of State Road; five grandchildren, Carly Hines, Joy Hines, Melissa Hines Coles, Annie Hines and Carrie Guyer. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin First United Methodist Church by Rev. Sandy Giles and Rev. Milton Aydlotte Hines, Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Surry County 1326 North Main Street Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Hines family.
