State Road Mr. Bobby Joe Gentry, age 71, of Mining School Road, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Elkin Healthcare. Mr. Gentry was born January 25, 1936 in Surry County to George McKinley & Eunice Fay Gambill Gentry. Mr. Gentry retired from the United States Postal Service where he was a rural letter carrier in State Road and he was a member of Mining Ridge Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Jane Shore Gentry of the home; four sons, Robbie Gentry of Elkin, Garry Gentry and wife Kim of Thurmond, Barry Gentry and wife Cindy of State Road, Joey Gentry and wife April of Elkin; two daughters, Tammy Anderson and husband Jr. of Traphill, Sandra Galehouse and husband Bobby of Mililani, Hi; four sisters, Sarah Spicer and husband Bramlet, Barbara Smoot and husband William all of Elkin, Faye Harris and husband David of Thurmond, Kaye Rhodes and husband Jim of Elkin; fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bobby Prevette, Rev. Frank Wooten and Rev. Paul Bell. Burial will follow at Mining Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Bobby requests no flowers and memorials be made to Mining Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
