Fannie Ola Parks

Fannie Ola Parks Mrs. Parks, 78, of Leeman Walls Road, Ronda, passed away on February 28, 2008 at Morningside Assisted Living in Rock Hill, SC. Mrs. Parks was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born on November 29, 1929 to Gilbert L. and Minnie Davis White. Mrs. Parks had a great zest for life and a quick wit, and a comical personality. She loved the Lord and raised her two sons to have the same faith and beliefs. She grew up on a tobacco farm with ten brothers and sisters before marrying Andrew J. Shelton in 1946. They ran a poultry farm and raised their two sons until his death in 1982. Ola lived as a widow for eleven years before marrying Ernie Parks in 1992. He passed in February 2005. Surviving Ola are her two sons, Lonnie Shelton Sr. and his wife Judy and Gilbert Shelton, Sr. and his wife Sue. Her grandchildren include: Lonnie Shelton, Jr., Christopher Shelton, April Waddell, Andrew Noah Shelton, Andrea Shelton, Andrew Gilbert Shelton, and Allyson Shelton. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren as well as sisters Matt Durham, Mary Ann Stanley, Lorrine Holyfield and brother G. L. White. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Mr. Parks family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Morningside Assisted Living of Rock Hill for the care they provided to Ola over the past few months. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church.
