Richard Blake Tulbert

Jonesville Mr. Richard Blake Tulbert, age 24, of Eck Road, passed away Monday, December 20, 2004. Mr. Tulbert was born November 4, 1980 in Surry County to Rodney Blake & Mary Belle Masten Tulbert. Richard was employed by J.S. Myers Company. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Wilkesboro and was a 1999 graduate of Starmount High School and was a member of the 1998 NCHSAA State 1A Football championship team. Survivors include: his father and mother, Rodney Blake & Mary Masten Tulbert of Jonesville; his son, Ryan Blake Tulbert of the home and his mother, Lori C. Church; a sister, Mary Ellen Tulbert of Greensboro; maternal grandparents, Worth & Polly Masten of Jonesville; his paternal grandmother, Vermell Byrd of Jonesville; his aunts, Susan Poplin of Ronda; Callie Masten and her fiance Jeff Groce of Jonesville; an uncle Tommy Masten and his wife Kim of Hamptonville; cousins, Carey Lowe, Maggie Masten, Rebecca Masten and Pierson Colbert. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Fowler and Rev. Max Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Tulbert will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Ryan Tulbert memorial Trust Fund at Yadkin Valley Bank, c/o Kim Gentry, PO Box 888 Elkin, NC 28621.
