Elkin, Mr. Gerald Thomas Lawrence, age 62 of Austin Traphill Road passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Lawrence was born April 11, 1946 in Surry County to Roy Thomas and Bernice Welborn Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company; he was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Lawrence served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Survivors include one brother; James L. Lawrence, Sr. of Myrtle Beach South Carolina; one nephew James L. Lawrence Jr. and his wife Wellesley of Atlanta Ga... A Graveside service for Mr. Lawrence will be held at 2pm. Monday, April 28, 2008 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Danny Dodds. Military Honors will be provided by Yadkin County VFW Post 1034. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
