Elkin
Mrs. Ila Mae White Dudley, age 95, of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. Dudley was born in Surry County on March 10, 1911 to Ike and Frances Martha White.
Mrs. Dudley was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Dudley on October 13, 1982; an infant son in 1938 and a daughter Helen in 1926; a son Junior McKinley Dudley on June 16, 2000; four brothers, Emmit, Floyd, Bell and Opie White; three sisters, Vertia Adams, Betty Emma Shores and Viola Culler; one grandson, Buddy Cockerham.
Survivors include: a son, Sammy Ray Dudley; three daughters, Lorene Southard of State Road, Polly Rowell and husband Kenneth of Winston-Salem, Mary Price of Walkertown; two daughters-in-law Patsy E. Dudley and Nell Dudley both of State Road; fifteen grandchildren, Steve Dudley and wife Holly, Billy Dudley and wife Angelena, Debbie Dudley, Raenell Harris, Teresa Petree, Melinda Leonard and husband Tommy, Ronald Southard and wife Karen, Rodney Southard, Regina Copeland, Skipper Young, Ann Cockerham, Benny Tadlock and wife Joyce, Randy Tadlock and wife Wendy, Libby Chandler and husband Chuck, and Michael Tadlock; eighteen great grandchildren including Chastity Copeland who is serving in the United States Air Force and is stationed in Afghanistan; eleven great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in State Road, by Rev. John Attaway and Rev. Danny Royal. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
