Johnny Ray Edmonds

Elkin, Mr. Johnny Ray "Rainbow" Edmonds, age 65 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Mr. Edmonds was born August 8, 1945 in Surry County to Garl Taylor and Nancy Viola Brunner Edmonds. He was a loving husband and father. Mr. Edmonds was also a member of East Elkin Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters. Survivors include his wife Lynn Swaim Edmonds of the home; sons Jeff Edmonds of Lowgap and Jason Edmonds of Elkin; two daughters Christy Edmonds of Hamptonville and Angie Beck of Ararat; brother Jimmy Edmonds and his wife Nancy of Pilot Mountain; sisters Wilma Upchurch and husband Roger of Mt. Airy and Nina Gwyn of Mt. Airy; and several grandchildren; and two dogs Fido and Scooter. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Rex. Walker and Rev. James Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
