Mrs. Elaine Abrams Oliver, age 72, of Calvary Road, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Oliver was born September 20, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to Bennie & Sadie Abrams. Mrs. Oliver was retired from Ryder Trucking and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Vincent Florida; a daughter, Joann Florida. Survivors include her husband, Eli B. "Ben" Oliver of the home; three sons, Emanuel Florida and wife Pat of Petersburg, Va., Vinnie Florida and wife Linda of Florida, Benjamin Florida of Richmond, Va.; a step son, Benjamin Claude Olilver of Elkin; two stepdaughters, Janie E. Whitaker of Elkin, Susan Buie of Moorsville; a sister, Louise Jazewski of New York; one grandchild, Jason Florida; seven step grandchildren; one great grandchild; eight step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2007 at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Joel Blevins and Rev. Wesley Smith. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
