Elkin Mrs. Emma Jean Lyon Smith, age 68, of Austin-Traphill Road, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born January 25, 1936 in Wilkes County to Verlin and Polly Hemric Lyon. Mrs. Smith was retired from Carolina Glove and was a member of Charity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband John Smith of the home; a daughter, Debbie Harris and husband David of Elkin; an Aunt Helen Spicer of Elkin. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Phillip King. Burial will follow at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hospice of Surry/Yadkin Counties, 1326 North Main Street Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Smith famly.
