Advance Mrs. Nannie Marie Woodruff Wood, age 96, of Bermuda Village, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Bermuda Village Health Center. Mrs. Wood was born October 27, 1913 in Wilkes County to Everett Cleve & Attie McCoin Woodruff. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and attended State Road Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Culmer Wood; two sisters, Bertha Simmons and Etta Blackburn. Survivors include: a son, Larry Michael Wood and wife Vickie of Yadkinville; two daughters, Melba Wood Dameron and husband Kenneth of Clemmons, Lou Wood Hampton and husband Henry of Elkin; sister-in-law, Pauline Wood Kiger of Forest City; five grandchildren, Christopher Wood, Michael Goodwin, Cindy Goodwin Pardue, Vicki Goodwin Lloyd and Ann Blackburn Hardy; eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at State Road Primitive Baptist Church by Elder George Flippin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to State Road Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund c/o Lou Hampton, 1384 C.C. Camp Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
