Thurmond Mrs. Rosalie June Mattice Lewis, age 83, of H.G. Lewis Road, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Lewis was born June 25, 1923 in Primghar, Iowa to Robert & Lillie Johnson Mattice. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, Rosalie lived her life with simplicity, wisdom and grace. Mrs. Lewis graduated from Paullina High School in Iowa and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. She retired from Guardian Care Nursing Home and was a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Lewis; a son, Wade Lewis; two brothers, Roger Mattice and Lloyd Mattice; a sister, Pearl Virgil. Survivors include: a daughter, Debbie Fox and husband Jim of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Alexandra Fox and Victoria Fox both of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Alison Lewis of Thurmond; three sisters, Leona Wittrock, Nell Kammerer both of Primghar, Iowa, Gladys Chalstrom of Effingham, Illinois. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert Waddell. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at Hodges Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Rosalie's neighbors and members of Mountain Park United Methodist Church. Their loving attention helped enable our mom and grandma to live and die in her own home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mountain Park United Methodist Church or to the Donor's Choice.
