Roaring River Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Woodward Barker, age 61, of Austin Little Mountain Road, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Grace Hospital. Mrs. Barker was born August 29, 1944 in Iredell County to J.V. & Martha Beckham Woodward. Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and attended Benham Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, G. Rex Barker of the home; three sons, Jeff Barker of Roaring River, Eric Barker and his wife Julie of Traphill, Craig Barker of Roaring River; a brother, Hugh Woodward and his wife Sally of Louisville, KY; a sister, Sarah Frances Woodward of Statesville; two grandchildren, Jacob Barker and Presley Barker. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Benham Baptist Church by Rev. Elmer Barker and Rev. Jason Wiles. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Barker will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Benham Baptist Church.
