William Mckinnley Wood

July 16, 1928 — May 31, 2005

Elkin Mr. William McKinnley Wood, age 76 of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wood was born July 16, 1928 in Wilkes County to Paul & Odessa Walker Wood. Mr. Wood attended Second Chance Church in Fariview and was retired from Broyhill Furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include: a son, Billy Ray Wood of Elkin; two brothers, Manuel Wood and wife Lorene of Ronda, Avery Wood and wife Carol of Fairview; a sister, Pauline McCloud of Ronda; two grandchildren, Amanda Williams and William Ray Wood; a great grandchild, Ethan Williams. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Terry Coe and Dr. Gary Byrd. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Burial will follow at Ronda Cemetery.
