Alton Columbus Woodruff

Elkin, Mr. Alton Columbus Woodruff, age 78 of Elkin passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Woodruff was born June 26, 1932 in Surry County to Arvil and Lillie Dearman Woodruff. He was a member of Beulah Land Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Woodruff was the owner of 268 Barber Shop for over 45 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Woodruff Barker and a son-in-law David Barker. Survivors include his wife Annie Anderson Woodruff of the home, daughter Patricia Woodruff and her husband Jack Crouse of Dobson; two cousins Edna Woods and Andrea Bailey both of Hillsborough. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jarvis Harrold, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Park Cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW post 10346. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Jason Thomason and Dr. Paul Gulley as well as the nurses and staff of Forsyth Medical Center ICU.
