Nancy L. Bender 58 resident of St. Maries, died June 16, 2010 at her home near St. Maries following a 3 year courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 23, 1951 to Robert and Ruth Hart Allured at Pullman, WA. She grew up in Bonners Ferry, ID . She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School with the class of 1970. She then attended Spokane Falls Comm. College for one year. She returned to Bonners Ferry where she married Pat Bender on March 18, 1972 at Bonners Ferry. In 1978, she moved to Osburn, ID . She worked as a bookkeeper for an accounting firm in Pinehurst, ID She moved to St. Maries in 1982 where she and her husband adopted their daughter Allison. She worked for Spicer Accounting, the Panhandle Health Dist, the St. Maries Golf Course and many other area businesses as a bookkeeper. She was also one of the Trustee Finance keepers for the St. Maries Cross Light Fund. She was a bookkeeper for Jim's Auto Repair when her illlness forced her retirement one month ago. Nancy enjoyed all hand crafts including quilting, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed stamping card making and playing golf. She was a member and deacon of the Community Presbyterian Church, a member of the St. Maries P.E.O. and a staple figure for the St. Maries Community Clinic. She is survived by her husband Pat at the family home. Her daughter Allison Bender of Boise, ID. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Sharon Allured, her brother-in-law and wife Dennis and Michelle Bender and her sister-in-law Jeanne Bender all of Bonners Ferry, ID. She is also survived by her aunt Elizabeth Conrad of Vancouver, WA and numerous cousins. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of North Idaho 9493 N.
