State Road, NC Mrs. Mary P. Norman, age 77, of Murray Road, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. Norman was born March 4, 1930 in Surry County to Eugene & Mary Darnell Phillips, Sr. Mrs. Norman retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Mining Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinard "Tom" Norman. Survivors include: a son, Philip Norman and wife Kay of State Road; a daughter, Linda Mastin and husband Walter of State Road; a brother, Eugene Phillips, Jr. and wife Ruth of Elkin; three grandchildren, Lori Royal and husband Dwayne of Purlear, NC, Matthew Norman and wife Tara of Elkin, Lee Mastin and wife Jennifer of Elkin; three great grandchildren, Madison, Bryce and Noah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Mining Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Lee Mastin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mining Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
