Jerry Norman Carter

June 20, 1932 — April 16, 2007

Elkin Mr. Jerry Norman Carter, age 74, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away, Monday, April 16, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Carter was born June 20, 1932 in Surry County to James Franklin & Grace Vivian Couch Carter. Mr. Carter was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Vaughn-Bassett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Lee Carter. Survivors include: his wife, Norma Jean Carter of the home; a son, Joe Carter of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Dale Carter of Aberdeen, NC, Steven Carter of Greenville, SC; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Dodds. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Carter will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Carter family.
