Ruth Howell Johnson

Mrs. Ruth Howell Johnson, age 83, of Trailer Drive, passed away, Thursday, November 02, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was born September 24, 1923 in Wilkes County to Ford & Matilda Boyd Howell. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and was a lifelong member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Johnson; brothers, Luther, Gaither, Clark and Lester Howell; sisters, Mary Holbrook, Beulah Hemric and Maggie Evans; a great grandson, Tony Johnson. Survivors include: two sons, Donald Johnson and Ben Johnson and wife Michelle all of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Vicky Cox and husband Jack of Elkin; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held, Monday, November 6, 2006 at 11:00 am at Maple Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Rex Cranfill. A Communion service will be held following the graveside service in the Church Sanctuary. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
