Lonnie Deloss Crabb

State Road Mr. Lonnie Deloss Crabb, age 87, of Mining School Road, passed away Saturday August 14, 2004 at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mr. Crabb was born January 17, 1917 in Wilkes County to Charlie and Carrie Wood Crabb. Mr. Crabb retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir for many years. Lonnie was also the Bass singer for the Gospel Four Quartet for twelve years. On September 16, 1938 Lonnie married the former Ruby Sanders and was married for 65 years until she preceded him in death on February 3, 2004. Lonnie was also preceded in death by a brother, Barney W. Crabb and six sisters, Bessie Spicer, Cora Crouse, Mae Harris, Etta Billings, Pearl Seagraves, Dorothy Collins. Survivors include, One son, L.D. Crabb and his wife Pat of Lexington. Two daughters, Carol Lyon and her husband Lee of State Road, Kathy Gantt and her husband Steve of Kernersville. Four grandchildren, Alan Lyon, Angie Macemore, Mark Crabb, Mike Crabb. Seven great grandchildren, Jacob Lyon, Ana Macemore, William Macemore, Andrew Macemore, Addison Crabb, Morgan Crabb, Lindsay Crabb. Lonnie was a loving husband and father. He was so proud of each member of his family, especially his three children. He never missed the opportunity to talk about his family, and always carried a family picture and would show it to anyone who would look. In his younger days Lonnie was an avid golfer and loved to sing. He will truly be missed by all. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Woody Faulk and his staff, and also to Elkin Healthcare Center for their help and kindness during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 17, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Rev. Finley McCoury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Crabb will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30-8:30 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Alan Lyon, William Macemore, Andrew Macemore, Randy Macemore, Mark Crabb, Mike Crabb, Fred Luffman, Jacob Lyon. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church PO Box 9 State Road, NC 28676. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Crabb family.
