Elkin Mr. Edward Daniel Collins, Jr., age 66, of Collins Road, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Collins was born August 20, 1938 in Surry County to Edward Daniel & Ruby Mae Powers Collins, Sr. Mr. Collins was retired from Pepsi Bottling Company. He was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church and Elkin Masonic Lodge 454. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Daniel Collins, Sr.; his mother, Ruby Mae Powers Collins Woodruff; his wife, Betty Wilma Jolly Collins; a son, Danny Paul Collins; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Collins. Survivors include: two sons, Edward Daniel Collins, III and wife Debra of State Road, James Lewis Collins and wife Terri of Ronda; a step brother, Donald Woodruff of High Rock Lake; two step sisters, Nonnie Durham of Roaring River and Margaret Norman of Mt. Airy; a granddaughter, Desiree' Steeves of Havelock, NC. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Blevins, Rev. Russ Nixon and Rev. Tommy Collins. . Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic rites provided by Elkin Masonic Lodge 454. Mr. Collins will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Masonic Children's Home, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving Collins family.
