Mrs. Edith Mae Garris age 83, of Balckburn Ave, passed away Friday, November 7, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Garris was born September 14, 1925 in Wilkes County to Edgar and Gena Burchette Taylor. Mrs. Garris was a member of Thanks To Calvary Baptist Church and was a former employe of Elkin Dry Cleaner. In addition to her parents Mrs. Garris was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Survivors include; her husband Lonnie James Garris of the home, one son Bobby Taylor and his wife Carol of Elkin, and one sister Peggy Taylor Finney and her husband Junior of Elkin; two grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Garris will be held at 2:00pm Monday, November 10, 2008 at Thanks To Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Steve Mahaffey and Brett Graham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7-9 pm at Hodges Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Thanks To Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
