Ronda, Mrs. Dovie Christine Burchette, age 68, of Hidden Acres Drive passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Burchette was born June 18, 1940 in Yadkin County to Atlas Hugh and Helen Kathleen Inscore Swaim. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law she was a member of First Baptist church of Ronda, and was a retired from R.J. Reynolds as an inspector and Chatham Manufacturing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Granville William Burchette and a son Kevin Hugh Burchette. Survivors include: son William Keith Burchette of Ronda, daughters Penny Sparks and husband Michael of Elkin, Lisa Nelson and husband Terry of Hays, daughter-in-law Kay Burchette, brother Kenneth Gray Swaim and wife Rickie of Yadkinville, sister Doris Stokes and husband Harold of Hamptonville sister-in-law Edith Osborne and husband Dewitt of Elkin, Glenda Carter and husband Jimmy of East Bend, brothers-in-law Hugh Burchette and wife Elizabeth of Elkin and Jim Burchette and wife Elizabeth of Julian; grandchildren Joshua Michael Sparks, Brandon Keith Burchette, and Kristan Maggie Sparks. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Ronda cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or First Baptist Church Ronda building fund. Online condolences may be made at www.hodgesfuneralhomeinc.com.
