Clyde Chester Lyon, Sr.

July 9, 1925 — July 4, 2006

Mr. Clyde Chester Lyon, Sr., age 80, of Hwy. 21, Thurmond, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Lyon was born July 9, 1925 in Wilkes County to Toliver Joshua & Parthenia Cheek Lyon. Mr. Lyon was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and attended Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Lyon; three sisters, Mamie Sexton, Ada Durham and Maude Hincher. Survivors include: his wife, Martha Ellen Cheek Lyon of the home; six sons, Steven Lyon and wife Susan of Thurmond, Clyde Chester Lyon, Jr. and wife Pam of Traphill, John Lyon and wife Terry of Blowing Rock, Benjamin Lyon and wife Linda of Traphill, Richard Lyon of the home, Tracy Lyon of Thurmond; a daughter, Evelyn Campbell of Traphill, two brothers, Lester Lyon and Lawrence Lyon both of Traphill; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church by Elder John Lyon, Elder George Flippen and Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Lyon will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
