Mrs. Etta Estelle Pardue Pardue, 84 of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Pardue was born October 9, 1925 in Wilkes County to Luther and Mamie Cheek Pardue. She was a member of Cranberry Baptist Church and organized and attended the Saturday evening worship service at Elk Court. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pardue was preceded in death by her husband George Franklin Pardue; a son, Wayne J. Pardue; sisters, Ila Carroll, Virginia Shore, Marvian Burchette, and Lucille Sparks. She is survived by a son, Alton Pardue and wife Sylvia of Ronda; a daughter, Janet Billings and husband Jerry of Hayes; four grandchildren, Michael Billings and wife Crissy, Keith Billings and wife Wendy, Amber Hall and husband Josh, and Tara Pardue-Lackey and husband Miles; four great grandchildren, Ashley Billings, Matthew Billings, Hayden Hall, and Hailey Billings; a very special nephew, Rev. Kenneth Pardue and wife Alma Jean of Millers Creek; special friends, Martha Adams and Kathleen Broyhill; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Pardue and Rev. James Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, especially Clarissa Minton.
