Ronda Mr. Henry Ford Pepper, Sr., age 79, of South Lomax Road, passed away Saturday May 14, 2005 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Pepper was born March 11, 1926 in Green Co. Kentucky to Fredrick Thomas and Betty Berry Pepper. Mr. Pepper retired from Wilkes Community College as the Adult Basic Education Director. He received his B.S and M.A degrees from Appalachian State Teachers College and did his post graduate work at NC State University. Mr. Pepper was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Pepper served for eight years on the Wilkes County Board of Education and also served for eight years as a Trustee for Wilkes Community College. He served as director of Ronda Fire Department and was on the Board of Directors of Clingman Medical Center. Mr. Pepper was member and served as deacon at Pleasant Home Baptist Church. After his retirement Mr. Pepper enjoyed traveling. He and his wife traveled to Europe, Alaska, and drove across the United State. He especially enjoyed traveling back to his home state of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gwynn and Chip Pepper. Survivors include, his wife, Nell Key Pepper of the home. A son and daughter in law; Fred Pepper and wife Dorothy of Ronda. Two brothers; Glenn Pepper of Campbellsville, Ky and Eugene Pepper of Greensburg, Ky. Four sisters; Ruth Chaney and Evelyn Davis of Greensburg, Ky. Rosie Unger of Spencer, In. Joann Ramsey of Glascow, Ky. Three step grandchildren; Tim and Chris Hicks, Loretta Caudle. Five step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday May 16, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kenneth Jordan. Burial will follow at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
