Glenn Ellis Hinton 81 a long time resident of St. Maries ID, died August 18, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 13, 1929 in Eureka, CA to George and Alvera Hinton. He grew up in Robbins, CA where he attended schools in the area. In 1941 he moved to Vallejo, CA where he lived . He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1951 and served his country during the Korean War. He married Ellen Brandenstein February 17, 1953 at Woodlynne, NJ. He received his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1955. He and Ellen returned to Vallejo, CA where he opened "Hinton's Auto and Truck Repair" with his father. Glenn tried long haul truck driving for a while before going to work for the U. S. Government at Mare Island Naval Ship Yard as a Marine Machinist . Glenn retired 1989 as a shipboard mechanical systems tester. Glenn and Ellen moved to Harrison Flats and made his home there that same year. While living on Harrison Flats, he worked on the construction of the O'Gara Fire Station with other people and was a volunteer fireman. He moved to St. Maries in 2002. He was member of the St. Maries Masonic Lodge #63 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Calam Shriners, Past Patron O.E.S., Idaho Chapter #49, St.Maries Shrine Club "Crutch Patrol" Calam Legion of Honor and the N.R.A.. He is survived by his wife Ellen at the home in St. Maries. Also surviving are his brother-in-law and wife William and Mary Brandenstein of Ellicott City, MD as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 am at Hodge Funeral Home, Rev. Gary Foster Officiating. Masonic funeral tribute will also be held at the service. A gathering of family and friends will follow services at the St. Maries Masonic Temple. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Benewah Co. 702 College Ave , St. Maries, ID 83861 or Shriners Hospital for Children P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99201. Hodge Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
