James Marvin Lewis

Elkin Mr. James Marvin Lewis, age 94 of Greenhorn road, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born April 14, 1914 in Wilkes County to Brady and Sally Gambill Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a retired farmer, and a member of Benham Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death, by three sisters, Connie Lewis Smith, Vallie Lewis Settle, and Callie Lewis. Survivors include: his wife Ola Myrtle Darnell Lewis, of the home, one daughter Rita Sue Gentry, and her husband Larry of Elkin, two grandchildren, Travis Gentry, and wife Renee', Elisha Hall, and Husband Todd, four great-grandchildren Hannah Gentry, Alex Gentry, Huston Hall, and Brady Hall. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 14, 2007 at 2:00 pm, at Benham Baptist Church by Rev. Ted Combs, Rev. Julius Blevins, and Rev. Jeff Reeves. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30-8:30 at Hodges Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to, Benham Baptist Church, 8697 Greenhorn Rd.
