William Norman Jones

William Norman Jones, 87 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mr. Jones was born October 8, 1922 in Ashe County to Frank and Clyde Beulah Winebarger Jones. He served in the US Army during WWII and was co-owner of Winebarger Tractor. Mr. Jones was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. He was one of the longest standing NC Notaries and was also a past boyscout leader. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife Aulcie Jones; two sisters, Zena Mae Marsh and Clyde Mahalia Hendrix; and a brother Halfred Jones. He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Mathis Jones of State Road and JoAnn Ahrens & husband Kenneth of Elkin; two grandchildren, Tammie Burks & husband Robert and Sheri Spicer & husband Chris; and four great grandchildren, Damon Spicer, Dakota Spicer, Will Burks, and Jacob Burks. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. John Attaway officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Triad Flight of Honor, P.O.
