Betty Evans Freed

State Road Mrs. Betty Evans Freed, 87, passed away Friday March 20, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Freed was born March 2, 1922 in Yadkin County to Carl Evans and Hoby Evans Bailey. She graduated from Elkin High School and Draughn's Business College in Winston Salem, NC. Upon graduation she worked for GMAC in Winston Salem where she met and married the love of her life, William Edwin Freed. Mrs. Freed loved the Lord and was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Jonesville, NC where she served in several capacities for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Freed, a brother Edward G. Evans and a sister Carlene Evans Elmore. Survivors include; her children, Raymond Eric Freed and wife Patsy of Elkin, Patricia Freed Nicks and husband Kenneth of State Road, Reverend Michael Edwin Freed and wife Vera of Augusta, GA, Laura Freed Crawley and husband Joseph of Littleton, NC. Twelve Grandchildren; Derik Freed, Jason Freed, Matthew Freed, Christa Nicks Morris, Amanda Nicks Stanley, Luke Freed, Samuel Freed, Benjamin Freed, Jacob Freed, Joshua Freed, Reese Crawley and Ryan Crawley. Twelve Great Grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday March 26, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Crestwood Memorial Gardens conducted by Reverend Michael E. Freed.
