Harold Worth Hurt

Elkin Mr. Harold Worth Hurt, age 84, of Brookfall Dairy Road, Elkin, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hurt was born March 21, 1924 in Surry County to William V. & Emma Gentry Hurt. Mr. Hurt was a member of Elkin First United Methodist Church and was a member of Surry County Farm Bureau. For most of his life, he sang tenor with the Rhythm Aires Quartet and Yadkin Valley Quartet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death brothers, Clyde Hurt and Ovid Hurt. Survivors include: his wife, Kay Cheek Hurt of the home; a son, Edward H. Hurt and wife Tanya Kalich of Durham; a sister, Grace Davis and husband Clifton of Elkin; one grandchild, Claire Ellen Hurt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Chuck Baker. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
