Winnie Norman Ross

State Road Mrs. Winnie Norman Ross, age 83, of Pleasant Ridge Road, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ross was born August 1, 1924 in Wilkes County to William Franklin & Sally Tucker Norman. Winnie retired from Sunbeam Corp and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a G.A. Leader. She was also a member of Pleasant Ridge Homemakers Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1998 by her husband of 57 years, Warren Ross. Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Wall and husband Donald of Glade Valley, Phyllis Felts and husband David of Advance; two sisters, Mary Adams of Jonesville, Lorene Smith and husband Harvey of Elkin; two sisters-in-law, Tommie Ann Ross of Harmony and Una Ross of Ohio; four grandchildren, Le’Don Bedsaul and husband Greg of Boonville; Neil Wall and wife Jennifer of Dobson; Jonathan Felts and Jennifer Felts both of Washington D.C.; five great grandchildren; a dear friend, Eva Lawrence of State Road; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Merritt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ross will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1997 Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Immediate Care Unit #4 and to the 3rd floor staff at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
